Prelude: Why I am Starting This Philosophy Blog
As a young finance professional, I want to retain the philosophical education that I gained during my time in undergrad and not let it go to waste. What better way to preserve knowledge than by teaching it to others?!
Philosophy has been highly enriching to my soul and spearheaded my own personal development, introspection, and self-growth. I hope that my educational series can be a catalyst that helps others realize their own purpose, develop/strengthen their inner moral compass, and enrich their outlook/how they think about and navigate the world.
I’d consider it my mission fulfilled if the philosophy that I share inspires others to self-reflect and motivate them to change their lives for the better. My goal is to take the lessons that I’ve had the opportunity to learn, and to use that ancient wisdom to enhance our lives together.
There are still many areas of philosophy that I want to explore; for instance, I did not have the opportunity to learn about nihilism or stoicism that I’m interested in further exploring! This philosophy blog is also a personal challenge to continue learning, and uphold my promise to myself to continue practice being a student throughout life.
To justify to others that philosophy is not some abstruse, far-fetched academic discipline that has no grounds/basis in reality; instead, I aim to illustrate that philosophy is not only applicable to a diversity of areas but also highly relevant to modern life. In fact, I intend to show that philosophy can be use on a daily basis to enrich to find meaning in our everyday live and to plan for/shape the kind of life we want to live in the future. The beauty and value in philosophy lies in its malleableness and wisdom.
